The Heart Behind Dear Old Bakehouse Online

Joy. Comfort. Heart.

Using a Kitchenaid Mixer

Hello, and welcome to Dear Old Bakehouse Online!

My name is Hannah Eaton, and I truly can’t wait for you to start exploring my little corner of the internet.

My love for baking has spanned the entirety of my life. From baking my first pie as a little girl, to graduating high school and heading off to Culinary school, to eventually opening my own little pie shop in my home state, it’s been the one constant passion in my life. It’s my hope that that passion shines through in everything I create with these hands God has given me. I want it to burn bright and evolve with me in every stage of life I face.

In starting this website, my main goal has been to inspire those who may stumble across my recipes to try something new. Baking is a skill that I believe is incredibly valuable in its ability to bring people together, warm the hearts of those who need it most, and keep us working with our hands when so much of the work today is focused on automation and efficiency. There’s just something inherently valuable about using your hands to create something beautiful, even if it takes just a little longer.

Before I started my journey with Dear Old Bakehouse Online, my days were spent in a commercial kitchen, baking hundreds of pies for my pie shop, Milk and Honey Bakehouse.

Through lots of hard work, passion, and early mornings, Milk and Honey thrived for two-and-a-half of the best years of my life. That is, up until I met the love of my life, got married, shut down the pie shop, and moved states to start up life with my husband.

It didn’t take me long after closing down the pie shop to realize I was deeply missing the connection it had been granting me. I loved sharing my passion with my customers and making friends over my love of pie. I loved the thought of pies that I made making the holidays, special events, and birthdays of so many just a little more special. It was my way of loving my community, and when it was gone, I knew I needed to find a way to get it back.

Since then, I have been working hard to build that community back up again through Dear Old Bakehouse Online. And oh, how it has grown.

I’ve always said that I am more of the “grandmotherly” type. I love being home and in cozy spaces. I love crocheting and baking and cooking for those I love. I love giving hugs and bringing comfort to those around me through food. So starting a baking blog and learning to get tech-savvy has been daunting to say the least, but the reward just keeps growing with every message or photo that I receive from a visitor who decided to try out one of my recipes. It truly means the world to me.

So, with that, please come in and browse my digital recipe box. Or read up on my latest tips in the bakehouse blog. Or snag you a copy of my digital pie cookbook, “The Pie Shop Collection”, filled with all of my most popular and unique recipes from my days owning the pie shop. But above all, please just enjoy yourself and take away a little bit of the joy, comfort, and heart that I try to fill these pages with. From my table, to yours.

With love,

Your Baker, Hannah
